Community Nurse

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Community Nurse to join its mobile health team in Kherson. Based in Kherson with regular travel to surrounding communities, you will provide essential nursing and basic medical services to conflict‑affected and vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to clients with moderate to severe mental health conditions, both in the community and at home.
• Conduct basic medical assessments (blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, ECG) and record results according to IRC protocols.
• Dispense physician‑prescribed medications and educate patients on proper use.
• Collaborate with psychologists and psychiatrists on daily home visits, case assessments, and referrals.
• Maintain complete medical records for all patients served.
• Assist in planning schedules, routes, and supply needs for the Health Department.
• Monitor public health conditions, provide consultations, and help develop sanitation and epidemiological improvement strategies.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse with experience in community or field health settings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills for patient education and coordination with health professionals.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Kherson region.

Required skills

• Basic health assessment techniques (blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, ECG).
• Medication dispensing and patient counseling.
• Medical record keeping.
