Senior II Platform Software Engineer - SRE

About the role

Preply is hiring a Senior II Platform Software Engineer within its SRE team in Kyiv. The Platform Tribe builds and operates the platform used by millions of learners and tutors, handling over 20 billion requests per month. The SRE team focuses on reliability at scale, platform scalability, developer productivity and efficient infrastructure, working in small teams with significant ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Own the availability and performance of mission-critical services and build automation to prevent problems recurring.
• Improve the system's scalability, observability and alerting.
• Build tooling to improve the platform and accelerate software development.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Collaborate with product teams on technical issues and new system design.
• Follow FinOps practices and take part in on-call rotation.

Required profile

• About 8 years of experience designing, building, maintaining and troubleshooting high-traffic distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Agentic AI, setting quality gates and safety nets and proposing AI-native alternatives.
• Experience implementing observability and alerting.
• Willingness to join paid on-call rotations.
• Data-driven, business-oriented approach and strong communication skills; minimum C1 English.

Required skills

• Proficient software engineering, Python preferred.
• At least one major public cloud and its services (AWS preferred).
