MHPSS Senior Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a senior professional to lead its Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) team in Ukraine. Based in one of the field offices (Kharkiv, Dnipro or Odesa), you will supervise psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers to deliver high‑quality mental health services to conflict‑affected communities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage MHPSS staff, ensuring implementation of activities aligned with IRC health strategy.
• Develop and coordinate work schedules with local authorities and communities to guarantee service accessibility.
• Conduct rapid MHPSS needs assessments together with the Health Manager and MHPSS Manager.
• Perform regular field visits to monitor compliance with protocols, policies and quality standards.
• Oversee data registration, collection and timely entry into program databases.
• Support MEAL activities through supervision, data collection and client feedback mechanisms.
• Collaborate with the pharmacist on medical supply management and prepare required reports for IRC and donors.
• Represent IRC in local MHPSS coordination meetings.

Required profile

• Relevant higher‑education degree in psychology, psychiatry, social work or a related field.
• Extensive experience supervising multidisciplinary MHPSS teams in humanitarian settings.
• Strong knowledge of MHPSS protocols, policies and best practices.
• Proven ability to conduct rapid assessments and produce high‑quality reports.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with local authorities and partners.
