Chief of Mission (CoM) – Expression of Interest

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an experienced senior leader to serve as Chief of Mission (CoM) for its Country Office in Kyiv, Ukraine. The CoM will provide overall strategic direction, policy guidance, and operational oversight to ensure IOM’s mission of humane and orderly migration is delivered effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all programme, administrative, financial and policy activities of the Country Office.
• Represent IOM to the Regional Director, Resident Coordinator and other UN partners, aligning contributions with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Oversee resource allocation, project implementation and fundraising initiatives.
• Maintain high‑level liaison with governmental, diplomatic and international institutions.
• Ensure compliance with IOM’s Management and Accountability Framework and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Political or Social Science, International Relations, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited university.
• At least fifteen (15) years of relevant professional experience.
• Extensive experience in general management, project and resource management.
• Proven background in diplomacy, fundraising, public relations and high‑level stakeholder engagement.
