Senior Embedded Linux / Android Camera Engineer

About the role

Jabil is looking for an experienced Camera / Embedded Linux Engineer to join a long-term international engineering project delivering advanced embedded camera and video technologies for a global leader in smart automation and control systems. The engineer works closely with the hardware and deep inside the Linux and Android camera stack, contributing to a unified camera platform used in conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, home offices and enterprise environments. The engagement is with an independent contractor, working flexibly on a B2B basis.

Key responsibilities

• Own complex camera topics from investigation to solution, and contribute to architecture and engineering decisions
• Develop and maintain Linux camera drivers, including V4L2 sub-device drivers
• Integrate, maintain and optimize Android Camera HAL components
• Design and validate Device Tree / DTBO overlays, including power, reset and MCLK configuration
• Develop automated media graph validation, streaming verification and long-running stress test suites
• Tune image quality pipelines using vendor-provided IQ tools
• Validate and troubleshoot CSI timing, PHY configuration and camera sensor integration with hardware teams
• Support platform integration with silicon and camera vendors and prepare technical documentation

Required profile

• 8+ years of embedded/low-level development experience, with 4-5+ years on Linux / Android BSP and camera or multimedia subsystem integration
• Ability to debug complex camera pipelines across kernel and user space, analyze kernel logs and trace frames through V4L2 and the ISP
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and willingness to take ownership of technical challenges

• Strong C/C++ programming
• Linux kernel camera drivers and V4L2, including sub-device drivers
• Android Camera HAL integration and maintenance
• Camera sensor bring-up and board-level integration
• Device Tree / DTBO overlays, including power sequencing, reset and clock configuration
• ISP and image quality pipelines (3A, LSC, TNR)
• Git/Gerrit and build systems (Yocto or AOSP)
• Nice to have: Qualcomm CHI pipeline, GStreamer or OpenCV, high-resolution or multi-camera systems, Android CTS/GTS compliance
