Applied AI Scientist

About the role

As an Applied AI Scientist you will join Preply’s AI Marketplace team, building and operating the intelligence layer that powers tutor‑learner matchmaking at global scale. You will work on neural ranking models, large‑scale experimentation, and trust & safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Build machine‑learning solutions that improve the user experience in the Preply marketplace.
• Contribute to data pipelines that feed ranking and matching models, collaborating with senior engineers.
• Develop and enhance offline evaluation tooling and data‑quality checks.
• Analyze experiment results to assess model performance and guide future iterations.
• Collaborate on larger AI projects, working alongside senior scientists.

Required profile

• 1.5+ years of commercial experience in data science or machine learning.
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals, model training, evaluation, and experimentation.
• Hands‑on experience building, training, fine‑tuning, or evaluating ML models in production.
• Proficient Python programming with experience using PyTorch or TensorFlow and version control (Git/GitHub).
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.
