Senior Data Scientist

About the role

Swarmer, a Ukrainian defense‑tech startup that builds autonomous drone software, is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to own and expand its machine‑learning and computer‑vision pipelines within the robotics autonomy stack. The role combines hands‑on model development, data engineering, and close collaboration with robotics and product teams to deliver real‑world impact on defense missions.

Key responsibilities

• Own and improve existing ML/CV flows (training, evaluation, integration) for perception and autonomy systems such as LMT, ATR, and VISNAV.
• Design, build, and operate data ingestion pipelines from flight and simulation sources, including storage, labeling workflows, and dataset versioning.
• Generate and validate simulated data, measure sim‑to‑real gaps, and enhance dataset quality for perception models.
• Optimize model performance under edge constraints (noisy sensors, limited compute, Jetson platforms) and ship changes that affect live missions.
• Develop tooling for dataset curation, experiment tracking, and AI‑assisted workflows.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer on computer‑vision, perception, or robotics‑related projects.
• Proven ability to own both model work and data infrastructure, including pipelines, lakes/warehouses, and dataset management.
• Comfort working with simulated and hybrid real‑plus‑sim datasets and addressing domain gaps.
• Experience deploying models to edge/embedded platforms such as Jetson or Qualcomm devices.
• High ownership mindset, able to ship, measure, and iterate quickly in a fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experiment tracking and data/ETL tooling.
• Computer‑vision model development (detection, tracking, recognition).
• Edge deployment on Jetson or Qualcomm platforms.
• AI engineering tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex).
