Staff Platform Engineer

About the role

Preply is looking for a Staff Platform Engineer to lead technical direction across its Platform Tribe. You will work with multiple platform squads, including Infrastructure, Runtime, Data, and Developer Platform, to build scalable, reliable internal products that empower engineers to deliver value quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Define architecture, engineering standards, and reusable patterns that reduce cognitive load and increase consistency across platform squads.
• Lead cross‑squad initiatives to improve the code‑to‑production pipeline, reliability, and developer experience.
• Mentor engineers, raise the quality bar, and contribute hands‑on code to production systems.
• Drive adoption of AI‑augmented development tools and ensure they are integrated effectively into the workflow.
• Collaborate with product and data teams to incorporate A/B testing insights and feedback into platform improvements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience building and operating large‑scale backend platforms.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a track record of delivering high‑impact production changes.
• Passion for mentoring and improving engineering practices.
