Senior Software Engineer - Ukraine

About the role

Picogrid, a venture-backed defense technology company, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Legion Platform team in Kyiv, Ukraine. You will design, build and deploy high-performance, scalable backend systems and integration tools that connect hardware and software systems across all environments and command layers. The role suits an engineer who thrives under pressure and wants work with immediate, tangible impact.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering in fast-paced, production environments using Go, Python, Rust, C/C++, TypeScript or similar.
• Strong background in APIs, distributed systems, data pipelines or real-time processing.
• Deep experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL), object stores (e.g. S3, MinIO) and geospatial tools.
• History of working directly with customers to build and deliver software.
• Ability to work with urgency, ownership and high engineering standards.

Required skills

• HTTP APIs (REST, gRPC or GraphQL) and authentication/authorization models.
• Preferred: experience with Ukrainian Ministry of Defence and NATO members, Ukrainian military C2 platforms (Delta, Kretchet, Oreanda), production Golang applications, and plugins for military C2 platforms such as TAK, Maven and Lattice.

What we offer

• Monthly wage of $5,000-$9,500 USD depending on experience.
