Senior Legal Counsel – Product & Marketing Compliance

About the role

Skelar, a venture‑builder creating consumer businesses across EdTech, Mental Health, Petcare, FashionTech and more, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel. You will lead product and marketing compliance, data protection, intellectual property and regulatory matters for its portfolio companies in the USA, EU and UK.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess legal risks in consumer protection, data privacy and IP across tier‑1 jurisdictions (USA, EU, UK).
• Design and implement practical compliance solutions that align with business objectives.
• Collaborate with marketing, product, engineering and finance teams to embed compliance into daily operations.
• Develop and refine legal processes to proactively manage risk.
• Support businesses during regulatory investigations and dispute resolution.
• Monitor legal developments and translate them into guidance, training and compliance initiatives.
• Work directly with senior leadership, taking ownership of compliance programs from day one.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in top‑tier law firms, Big 4, or product/tech companies.
• Law degree from a Ukrainian or foreign university.
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication.
• Business‑oriented mindset, able to balance legal risk with commercial goals.
• Self‑starter, organized and results‑driven.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to explain complex legal issues clearly.

Required skills

• Knowledge of consumer protection laws in the USA and EU (e.g., FTC Act, ROSCA, Omnibus Directive).
• Understanding of data‑protection frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Experience advising on commercial, compliance and intellectual‑property matters throughout a company’s lifecycle.
