Senior Engineer – Autonomy Software Integration & Test

About the role

Shield AI is looking for a senior engineer to develop, integrate, test and deploy autonomy software for unmanned platforms supporting operations in Ukraine. The role blends software development, hardware integration, and flight‑testing in fast‑paced field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop production‑quality C++ and Python software features for autonomous missions.
• Integrate autonomy stacks onto fixed‑wing, multirotor and other unmanned systems.
• Create internal tools, automation pipelines and test infrastructure.
• Support software bring‑up, system configuration and mission readiness for flight operations.
• Debug issues across software, radios, sensors, flight controllers and networking in lab and field.
• Conduct simulation, SIL/HIL/VIL, ground testing and live flight tests, including pre‑flight setup and post‑flight analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years developing and integrating software for robotics, autonomy, aerospace or embedded systems.
• Strong ownership, problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently in dynamic environments.
• Willingness and ability to travel within Ukraine for demonstrations and testing.
