Legal Counsel - Product and Marketing Compliance

About the role

BetterMe, a global wellness ecosystem, is expanding its legal team and is looking for a Legal Counsel. The role focuses on Product and Marketing Compliance, Consumer Protection and Regulatory, Contracts, Commercial and Intellectual Property, covering operations in the USA, EU, Canada and Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse potential legal risks in the company's jurisdictions of operation, with a focus on North America and Europe.
• Implement legal compliance across business operations such as marketing, payments, consumer rights and the development and production of physical goods.
• Draft and revise commercial contracts, internal policies and other legal documents.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for physical products throughout their lifecycle, including product safety, labeling, certifications, materials and chemical regulations, packaging and extended producer responsibility.
• Raise awareness of legal requirements and build legal processes with a positive return on investment.
• Communicate with business partners, law firms and service providers from different jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Fluent English, including legal drafting.
• 3-4+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an international or top-tier law firm or an IT product company.
• Initiative, creativity and ability to solve complex legal issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A plus: expertise in US and EU consumer protection laws (FTC Act, ROSCA, Omnibus Directive, etc.) and in advising companies on compliance and intellectual property.
