Associate Human Rights Officer (TJO)

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is seeking an Associate Human Rights Officer to support the Conflict‑Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) Unit in Kyiv. The role focuses on researching, analysing and reporting on human‑rights violations, with a strong gender perspective, and contributes to capacity‑building initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Research and collect information on human‑rights issues, especially CRSV, and analyse trends and gaps.
• Draft briefing notes, analytical reports and correspondence on human‑rights matters.
• Participate in hearings, consultations and training programmes for law‑enforcement and civil‑society actors.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of political and legal developments affecting human‑rights situations.
• Ensure compliance with protection standards and safe handling of information.
• Collaborate with NGOs, UN agencies and government bodies to build baseline data on vulnerable groups.
• Design and maintain a database to track project progress and produce data visualisations for decision‑making.
• Support advocacy efforts and community mobilisation to prevent violations.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of human‑rights issues, particularly conflict‑related sexual violence and gender dimensions.
• Excellent analytical and report‑writing abilities.
• Experience working with international organisations, NGOs or government agencies.
• Ability to handle sensitive information securely and work under delegated authority.
