Software Integration & Test Manager

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a hands‑on manager to lead a team of Autonomy Software Integration & Test Engineers supporting autonomous system development, integration, testing and deployment for operations in Ukraine. The role combines people management with technical execution across software, hardware, aircraft systems and flight operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of integration and test engineers.
• Set technical priorities, allocate resources, manage schedules and ensure delivery against operational requirements.
• Guide development and integration of autonomy software for fixed‑wing, multirotor and other unmanned platforms.
• Oversee simulation, SIL, HIL, VIL, ground‑test and live flight‑test activities.
• Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis across software, compute, networking, radios, sensors, flight controllers and mission systems.
• Coordinate engineering support for demonstrations and operational test events, including pre‑flight preparation and post‑flight analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing, integrating or testing software for robotics, autonomy, aerospace or embedded systems.
• Previous experience managing or leading engineering teams.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills in dynamic environments.
• Ability to travel within Ukraine as required.

• C++ and Python programming.
• Linux‑based systems and hands‑on hardware/software integration.
• MAVLink, PX4, ArduPilot, QGroundControl.
• ROS, DDS, embedded and real‑time systems.
• Flight controllers, avionics, RF communications, datalinks and networking.
• Simulation environments including SIL, HIL and VIL.
