Senior Python Engineer

About the role

Helpware is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to join a cross‑functional product team responsible for the backend and data‑processing layer of Pathfinder, a data‑intensive web application for strategic road‑mapping and portfolio planning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs on AWS infrastructure.
• Implement caching, queuing, batch processing and other optimisation techniques.
• Write clean, testable, maintainable code with strong automated test coverage.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical and performance issues.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, QA, and Front‑end engineers to design performant, reliable solutions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Python and modern Python frameworks.
• Proven ability to design robust, scalable backend services and APIs.
• Experience building efficient large‑scale data processing, transformation and aggregation pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, query optimisation and data modelling.
• Solid understanding of software architecture and engineering principles.
