Head of HR – Build Local Function in Ukraine

About the role

An established international technology company in the defense sector is expanding its operations and building a full‑scale presence in Ukraine. We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands‑on Head of HR to build our local HR function from scratch, lead the local team, and align operations with our European Headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement core HR processes from the ground up, including onboarding, performance management, 360° reviews, compensation & benefits, and retention strategies.
• Lead the local HR team and supervise talent acquisition operations to support company growth.
• Adapt global corporate policies from the European HQ to local realities and legal requirements.
• Oversee personnel administration, labor‑law compliance, and military registration processes in collaboration with external vendors.
• Foster a transparent, high‑performance work culture and support internal communications.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as Head of HR, HR Lead, or Senior HRBP in tech, R&D, or complex corporate environments.
• Proven track record in building and scaling HR systems in fast‑growing teams.
• Fluent English (C1/C2) for daily interaction with international leadership and HQ.
• Solid understanding of Ukrainian labor regulations and HR compliance.
• Readiness for regular on‑site presence in the Kyiv office.
• Willingness to undergo standard background security checks.
