WASH Officer (NO-2) – Temporary Position in Kharkiv, Ukraine

About the role

The WASH Officer (NO‑2) will support UNICEF’s country programme in Kharkiv, delivering water, sanitation and hygiene interventions for vulnerable children and families. This temporary position (364 days) reports to the WASH Specialist and contributes to programme planning, implementation and monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and planning of WASH activities within the country programme.
• Support programme management, including monitoring, reporting and delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational guidance for WASH implementation on the ground.
• Contribute to the evaluation of WASH outputs and ensure compliance with UNICEF standards.
• Coordinate with partners, government agencies and other UNICEF units to ensure effective programme delivery.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in water, sanitation, hygiene, public health or related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably with UNICEF or similar organisations.
• Strong understanding of WASH standards, guidelines and best practices.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment.

• WASH technical expertise (water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion).
• Programme monitoring and evaluation.
• Report writing and data analysis.
