Psychiatrist (Medical Doctor) – Humanitarian Health

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks a qualified Medical Doctor Psychiatrist to deliver specialized mental‑health services to conflict‑affected and vulnerable populations in Mykolaiv and surrounding communities. The role combines clinical care, medication management, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑moving humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialized psychiatric consultations and treatment to patients with moderate to severe mental disorders in community and home‑based settings.
• Assess clients’ needs in collaboration with the Health Department team and develop individualized case‑management strategies.
• Work closely with psychologists, nurses and pharmacists to deliver integrated mental‑health care, including medication management and referrals.
• Participate in emergency response activities, offering psychiatric assessment and support during humanitarian crises.
• Travel to remote and hard‑to‑reach communities in Kherson oblast to ensure access to psychiatric services.

Required profile

• Higher medical education with a specialization in Psychiatry.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in clinical or community psychiatry.
• Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian; basic English is desirable.
• Knowledge of IASC MHPSS Guidelines and WHO mhGAP.
