Community Nurse – Humanitarian Health Team

About the role

The Community Nurse joins the International Rescue Committee’s mobile health team to deliver nursing and basic medical services to conflict‑affected and vulnerable populations in Mykolaiv and Kherson oblast. Working alongside a psychiatrist and psychologist, the nurse provides assessments, medication dispensing, and self‑care guidance in community and home settings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct basic health assessments (blood pressure, glucose, oxygen saturation, ECG) and record results according to IRC protocols.
• Dispense physician‑prescribed medications and educate patients on proper use.
• Provide nursing care to clients with moderate to severe mental health conditions, both in the community and at home.
• Collaborate with psychologists to develop individualized case‑management strategies and perform regular home visits.
• Maintain complete medical records and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
• Monitor public health conditions, contribute to sanitary and epidemiological improvement strategies, and support data collection for the Health Department.

Required profile

• Professional pre‑higher or higher education in Nursing or a related healthcare field.
• Minimum three years of nursing experience in clinical or outpatient settings, preferably with palliative, home‑care, or psychiatric patient exposure.
