Psychiatrist – Humanitarian Health Programme

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a qualified Psychiatrist to join its integrated humanitarian health programme in Kherson. You will provide specialised mental health care to conflict‑affected and vulnerable populations, working both in community settings and through home‑based visits.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnose and treat moderate to severe mental disorders.
• Manage medication, including psychotropic drugs, and coordinate with the project pharmacist.
• Collaborate with psychologists, nurses and other health professionals to develop individualized case‑management plans.
• Provide basic medical consultations for acute and chronic conditions when needed and ensure appropriate referrals.
• Document all services accurately while maintaining client confidentiality.
• Participate in emergency response activities and field missions to remote communities.
• Attend supervision meetings with the MHPSS Manager and Specialist.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification in psychiatry.
• Experience delivering psychiatric care in low‑resource or humanitarian settings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel frequently to remote and hard‑to‑reach areas.
