Protection Officer – Shadowing & Capacity Building (Rule of Law)

About the role

The Protection Officer – Shadowing & Capacity Building (Rule of Law) will support partner organisations in delivering high‑quality Protection Case Management services. Working under the IRC’s localisation strategy, the Officer will mentor, jointly manage cases and provide technical guidance while progressively transferring responsibilities to partner caseworkers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and manage protection cases following IRC standards, including intake, risk assessment, safety planning and case closure.
• Lead initial case‑management interventions and gradually involve partner caseworkers through a phased shadowing model.
• Provide mentoring, coaching and technical support to partners, maintaining logs and session plans.
• Conduct regular case file reviews, give feedback and escalate quality concerns to management.
• Monitor compliance with protection principles, safeguarding, SOPs and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Human Rights, International Development or related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in Protection Case Management.
• Proven experience in technical supervision, mentoring or coaching caseworkers.
• Experience delivering trainings and capacity‑strengthening activities.
• Background working in humanitarian settings.

• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
