About the role
The GBV Specialist – Men and Boys will lead inclusive, survivor‑centred gender‑based violence programming for men and boys across Ukraine, with a focus on eastern regions. Based in Dnipro, the role supports nationwide activities and reports to the GBV Programme and Coordination Advisor.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate inter‑agency efforts for men and boys affected by GBV, strengthening collaboration, referral pathways and technical guidance.
- Provide strategic leadership and technical advice to UNFPA and partners on inclusive GBV prevention and response, especially for male survivors and veterans.
- Design, manage and oversee programmes addressing the needs of male survivors, including veteran reintegration and psychosocial wellbeing.
- Enhance programme quality and accountability through results‑based management, innovation, monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Guide capacity‑building initiatives for implementing partners, humanitarian actors and UNFPA teams.
- Lead assessments, research, service mapping and knowledge‑management activities to inform evidence‑based programming.
- Develop technical tools, guidance, policy recommendations and knowledge products to strengthen national and inter‑agency GBV approaches.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government, civil society, protection actors, mental‑health partners and donors, supporting advocacy and resource mobilisation.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Law, Public Health or a related field.
- Minimum seven years of professional experience in gender‑based violence, protection, conflict‑related sexual violence, mental health, human rights or related humanitarian programming.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing or advising programmes for men and boys affected by GBV, including survivors, veterans or conflict‑affected populations.
- Proven experience in GBV coordination, programme development, capacity strengthening and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong knowledge of survivor‑centred approaches, international standards and GBV coordination frameworks (e.g., IASC GBV Guidelines).
- Experience in conflict‑affected settings, preferably Ukraine or Eastern Europe.
- Excellent English language skills; knowledge of additional UN languages is an asset.
