Community Nurse

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Community Nurse to join its mobile health team in Kherson, Ukraine. The role involves delivering nursing and basic medical services to conflict‑affected and vulnerable populations, working closely with a psychiatrist and psychologist on multidisciplinary home‑visit missions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to clients with moderate and severe mental health conditions in community settings or at home.
• Conduct basic medical assessments (blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, ECG) and record results following IRC protocols.
• Dispense physician‑prescribed medications and educate patients on proper use.
• Collaborate with psychologists to support physical and mental wellbeing through daily home visits.
• Assess individual vulnerabilities and develop case‑management strategies with the Health Department.
• Maintain complete medical records for all patients served.
• Assist in planning schedules, routes, and supply needs for the Health Department.
• Coordinate with physicians to manage medication and medical supply inventories.
• Monitor public health conditions, provide consultations, and propose improvements to sanitary and epidemiological environments.
• Participate in data collection and information management for health reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse able to deliver care to clients with moderate to severe mental health conditions.
• Experience conducting basic health assessments and monitoring vital signs.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Khersonskyi raion for home‑visit missions.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary mobile team.
