Community Nurse (Humanitarian Health)

About the role

The Community Nurse delivers nursing and basic medical services within the International Rescue Committee’s integrated humanitarian health programme, supporting conflict‑affected and vulnerable populations in Mykolaiv and surrounding communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and conduct basic health assessments (vital signs, blood pressure, glucose, ECG, etc.) for clients with moderate to severe mental health conditions.
• Dispense physician‑prescribed medications, explain usage, and give self‑care recommendations.
• Collaborate with psychologists and psychiatrists during home visits, case assessments and referrals.
• Maintain complete medical records, manage medication stocks, and contribute to scheduling and route planning for the Health Department.
• Monitor public‑health conditions, report findings, and help develop strategies to improve sanitary and epidemiological standards.

Required profile

• Professional nursing education (pre‑higher or higher) and at least 3 years of clinical or outpatient experience, preferably in palliative or home care.
• Experience working with psychiatric patients and in NGO health programmes is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint for data collection, reporting and presentation.
• Fluency in Ukrainian; basic English is a plus.
