UAV Systems Engineer

About the role

Neros is seeking a UAV Systems Engineer to join its fast‑paced defense technology team. You will prototype, assemble, and improve unmanned aerial platforms, turning designs into flight‑ready drones in weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble FPV drone prototypes of various classes, installing and connecting components such as flight controllers, ESCs, GPS, VTX, receivers, antennas, and power distribution boards.
• Solder, route cables, and maintain connectors and power systems; configure Betaflight and calibrate sensors.
• Diagnose overheating, vibrations, and failures; provide technical feedback to engineering teams.
• Repair prototypes after test flights and document the assembly process with build notes and wiring diagrams.
• Use measuring instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer) to test drones post‑assembly, analyze logs, and optimise parameters.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of UAV design and configuration.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience with FPV drones or robotics.
• Proficiency with Fusion360 or SolidWorks for 3D design and printing.
• Experience building drones from scratch, including soldering, assembly, and configuration.
• Understanding of control systems such as ELRS, CRSF, and SBUS.
• Experience configuring Betaflight, INAV or ArduPilot firmware.

Required skills

• FPV drone prototyping and electronics assembly (FC, ESC, GPS, VTX, RX, antennas, PDB).
• Soldering and cable routing.
• Fusion360, SolidWorks, 3D printing.
• Control protocols ELRS, CRSF, SBUS.
• Betaflight, INAV, ArduPilot configuration.
• Multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer usage.
• STM32 microcontrollers (F4/F7/H7) and interfaces UART, SPI, I2C, CAN.
• Linux, Raspberry Pi, GStreamer, OpenHD.
• Video systems (Analog 5.8, DJI, Walksnail, HDZero) and VTX/antenna knowledge.
• RF interference mitigation, RSSI/LQ analysis.
• Basic power electronics (PDB, LiPo/Li‑ion, BEC/step‑down).
