Protection Officer – Community Awareness and Engagement (Women’s Protection & Empowerment)

About the role

The Protection Officer – Community Awareness and Engagement (Women’s Protection and Empowerment) leads community‑based initiatives to prevent and respond to gender‑based violence (GBV) in Ukraine. Working closely with women, girls, local authorities, community leaders and service providers, the Officer creates a safe and informed environment for GBV prevention and response.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate community‑based GBV prevention activities, ensuring they reflect the priorities of women and girls.
• Lead GBV risk assessments and safety audits, identifying gaps in services and protection concerns.
• Design and implement awareness campaigns (e.g., 16 Days of Activism, International Women’s Day) with culturally appropriate messaging.
• Oversee structured psychosocial support (PSS) group activities for women and girls in safe community spaces.

Required profile

• Experience in community‑based protection or GBV prevention initiatives.
• Ability to engage diverse community members, especially women and girls, using participatory methods.
• Strong coordination skills and familiarity with Ukrainian context.
