Freelance HMI Designer

About the role

Star is seeking senior freelance HMI designers to shape the next generation of automotive and mobility digital experiences. You will work on high‑impact programs ranging from concept innovation to production‑ready solutions for passenger cars, commercial fleets and emerging mobility platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design intuitive Human‑Machine Interfaces for cockpits, infotainment systems, instrument clusters and head‑up displays.
• Create high‑fidelity UI mock‑ups, design systems and reusable component libraries.
• Develop interaction models, information architecture and multimodal experiences (touch, voice, gesture, haptics, generative AI).
• Produce interactive prototypes, usability validation assets and implementation‑ready specifications for engineering teams.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary senior teams to ensure technical feasibility, safety and premium quality.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in automotive HMI or vehicle UI/UX design.
• Track record working with global OEMs, Tier‑1 suppliers or mobility leaders.
• Ability to translate complex vehicle systems into simple, emotionally resonant experiences.
• Strong systems thinking and attention to production‑ready detail.
