System Architect – Automotive (IRC297455)

About the role

Garmin is partnering with a leading automotive manufacturer to design and deliver advanced system architectures for a broad portfolio of vehicle lines. As a System Architect you will drive the concept, prototyping, and mass‑production phases of complex automotive software and hardware solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product research and development initiatives, anticipating technological trends and defining innovation roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership to cross‑functional teams, shaping system architecture and technical concepts from requirements to deployment.
• Influence engineering management on long‑range product development, evaluate options, and guide decision‑making on technical challenges.
• Identify and resolve issues in existing products and programs, ensuring robust implementation.
• Represent Garmin in external meetings with customers and suppliers.
• Support engineering management, build the system architecture team, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Software Engineering or related field.
• Approximately 20 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven ability to drive system and software design from concept through mass production.
• Deep understanding of industrialization processes and factory collaboration.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
