Senior Android Developer (Automotive OS Experience)

About the role

Join a new team at Luxoft focused on developing Android Framework components for In‑Vehicle Android Infotainment (IVI) systems. You will help shape the future IVI experience for 2026 and beyond, working with modern CI/CD practices and agile methods.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate within an end‑to‑end team alongside system engineers, product owners, designers, backend teams, and QA.
• Implement, test, and refine new features for the existing Android Automotive application stack.
• Translate product and UI/UX requirements into technical solutions that fit the current architecture.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, bugs, and performance issues promptly.
• Maintain and enhance codebase health through regular refactoring and optimization.

Required profile

• Advanced expertise in Android development with a proven track record of delivering successful applications.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot complex system‑level and application issues methodically.
• Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams and ability to adapt to platform‑specific constraints.

Required skills

• Kotlin and Java programming.
• Android SDK and Android Architecture Components (Lifecycle, ViewModel).
• Design patterns: MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, SOLID principles.
• Android Framework services, ContentProviders, IPC mechanisms (Binder, AIDL, Messenger, Intents/Broadcasts), permissions model.
• Understanding of process lifecycle, memory management, ActivityManagerService, app sandboxing, and security fundamentals.
• Logcat analysis, performance profiling, debugging tools.
• Android Studio, Gradle, Git.
• Linux internals, basic shell operations, SELinux policy.
• Experience with Android Automotive OS, AAOS application models, HMI constraints, Car APIs.
