Lead Automation QA (Java) Engineer

About the role

Ciklum is seeking a Lead Automation QA (Java) Engineer to join its Ukrainian team. You will work within a cross‑functional development group for a global travel and tourism client, delivering automated testing solutions that ensure high‑quality digital experiences for millions of customers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement QA processes, frameworks, tools, and team structure from the ground up.
• Design and maintain test automation strategies for UI and API projects.
• Build automated functional UI tests and service‑level API tests, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop, maintain, and expand the automated testing infrastructure.
• Document test frameworks, coding standards, design patterns, and development methodologies.
• Establish quality metrics, assess test effectiveness, and report product quality.
• Identify, analyze, and mitigate testing risks.
• Collaborate with QA, engineering, and product stakeholders to embed continuous testing.
• Drive adoption of GenAI‑powered testing tools to optimise workflows.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and performance grading of the AQA team.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional experience in automation QA for web and backend API testing.
• 2+ years of experience leading and managing testing teams.
• Strong ability to design test frameworks and drive quality initiatives.
