Lead Automation QA Engineer

About the role

As a Lead Automation QA Engineer you will join a cross‑functional team delivering digital solutions for TUI, a global travel and tourism leader. You will own the quality assurance lifecycle from design through production, ensuring that software releases meet both business and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and standardise QA strategy, metrics, testing frameworks and methodologies across teams.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects and technical leads to align testing objectives with business goals.
• Drive continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines and champion performance and accessibility testing.
• Mentor and coach QA engineers, improving technical skills and automation coverage.
• Work with DevOps to create resilient test environments and monitor test efficiency.
• Support business acceptance testing and ensure smooth production releases.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading QA and test automation across multiple products or teams.
• Ability to define quality gates, measurable objectives and align them with business outcomes.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and mentoring capabilities.

Required skills

• Hands‑on TypeScript and JavaScript for automated testing.
• Extensive experience with Playwright and Playwright Test Runner.
• Design of scalable automation frameworks using the Page Object pattern.
• API testing expertise (Playwright API testing or equivalent).
• Knowledge of mocking, stubbing and test data management.
• Performance testing and accessibility testing.
• Integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
