Humanitarian Access Safety and Security Assistant

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Humanitarian Access Safety & Security Assistant (HASS Assistant) to support its operations in Kharkiv and the surrounding regions of Donetsk, Luhansk and Sumy. Working under the HASS Senior Officer, the assistant will help ensure that security policies are context‑appropriate, communicated to staff, and aligned with IRC’s humanitarian mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support on safety and security policies, procedures and guidelines to the IRC team in Ukraine.
• Assist in the development, review and updating of standard operating procedures, contingency plans and risk assessments.
• Conduct onsite briefings for staff and deliver contextual security advisories.
• Maintain strong relationships with local authorities and build a network of relevant actors.
• Support incident management and provide expert humanitarian security advice to field staff.
• Cover the HASS Senior Officer during limited periods as required.
