Flight Ops Technician III

About the role

Shield AI, a defense-tech company, is hiring a senior Flight Ops Technician III in Lviv to support the development, testing and operation of unmanned aircraft systems. The role bridges aircraft prototyping, hardware integration, HIL/ground testing, maintenance and field flight operations, working closely with hardware, software, autonomy and flight-test teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build, modify, assemble, maintain and repair prototype unmanned aircraft and related test systems
• Install and integrate avionics, sensors, compute hardware, radios, antennas, payloads and wiring
• Fabricate prototype and replacement parts with 3D printing and other rapid-prototyping methods
• Wire, configure and troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring harnesses and connectors
• Build, maintain and troubleshoot HIL rigs, test fixtures and test infrastructure
• Support SIL, HIL, VIL, bench, ground and live-flight testing, including aircraft inspections, maintenance and pre/post-flight checks
• Help set up and maintain a local prototyping and flight-operations lab
• Support flight operations, including aircraft setup, launch and recovery, and prepare equipment for field deployments
• Maintain technical documentation and mentor less-experienced technicians
• Travel within Ukraine to test sites and transport equipment and personnel

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in UAS, aviation, aerospace, robotics, electronics, manufacturing or test support
• Experience integrating hardware into aircraft, robotics or prototypes
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Ukraine
• Preferred: background in defense, aerospace, aircraft maintenance or flight test, and Ukrainian and English

• Electrical wiring, connectors, soldering, crimping and troubleshooting
• HIL rig and test stand experience
• Rapid prototyping and fabrication
• Preferred: 3D printing, CAD, PX4/ArduPilot, Linux, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
