Engineering Manager – Lead High‑Performing Teams

About the role

Preply is seeking an Engineering Manager to join one of its high‑impact tribes – either the Growth Tribe, focused on learner acquisition and retention, or the Monetization Tribe, driving the marketplace’s economic engine. You will shape strategy, execution, and growth for products that impact millions of learners worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow high‑performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
• Coach and develop engineers through regular feedback, mentorship, and career development.
• Define and drive long‑term vision, aligning team strategy with company objectives and product priorities.
• Identify and prioritize high‑impact opportunities in partnership with Product, Data, and Design.
• Own execution and delivery, balancing speed, quality, and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership, guiding system design and architectural decisions.
• Champion engineering best practices and drive continuous improvements in code quality and operational excellence.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with broader business stakeholders to maximize impact.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of experience building, leading, and scaling development teams.
• People‑centric approach with strong team‑building, coaching, and mentorship skills.
• Strong technical judgment and systems thinking, comfortable with architectural discussions.
• Proven ability to partner with Product, Design, and Data to drive measurable outcomes.
• Results‑oriented mindset with a track record of achieving ambitious, business‑focused goals.
• Ethical leadership demonstrated through empathy, transparency, accountability, and fairness.
