Communications Coordinator / Senior Media Officer (Ukraine)

About the role

UK-Med is seeking an experienced communications professional to act as the focal point for the organisation’s communications in Ukraine. The role involves providing strategic advice to senior management, coordinating media relations, and supporting communications during emergencies while travelling to programme locations to document activities.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with headquarters fundraising and communications specialists to develop a nationwide communications policy.
• Travel to programme locations to document success stories and publish them on websites.
• Produce high‑quality written and photographic content, including leaflets and other communication materials.
• Transform reports from programme teams into accessible communications in English and Ukrainian for media distribution.
• Train Ukraine programme staff to identify and document success stories, case studies, and press releases.
• Prepare internal reports, presentations, and briefings for donors, visitors, and high‑level meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communications or equivalent.
• At least four years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a humanitarian setting.
• Strong written English and Ukrainian skills (minimum B2 level).
• Understanding of humanitarian principles, ethical storytelling, and donor visibility requirements.
• Experience supporting senior management with communications and media engagement.

Required skills

• Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Adobe Creative Suite – particularly Final Cut, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
