Psychosocial Worker – Community MHPSS (Chernihiv)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a qualified Psychosocial Worker to join its Community‑Based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programme in Chernihiv, Ukraine. The consultant will support local initiatives and territorial communities, helping vulnerable groups build resilience and cope with the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver community‑based MHPSS services through psychosocial mobile teams, ensuring accessibility for women, persons with disabilities, older adults, and large families.
• Support the implementation of IOM’s global MHPSS standards and the manual on community‑based mental health in emergencies.
• Collaborate with local partners, hromada authorities, and other stakeholders to strengthen community and family resilience.
• Contribute to preparedness activities for potential future emergencies.
• Document activities, monitor outcomes, and provide regular reports to the 3R (Response, Resilience and Recovery) Unit.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or emergency settings, preferably in mental health or psychosocial support.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and vulnerable groups.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an advantage.
