Humanitarian Mine Action Translator/Interpreter

About the role
The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Translator/Interpreter to support its Humanitarian Mine Action programme in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. The role provides high‑quality oral and written translation for national and international staff, government partners and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication during operations, training and field deployments.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver oral interpretation between Ukrainian, Russian and English speakers during meetings, trainings, briefings and counselling sessions.
- Translate documents, training materials and reports from Ukrainian/Russian to English and vice‑versa.
- Join mobile HMA/HDP teams and deploy to field locations as required.
- Perform driving duties, transporting Technical Advisors and the Technical Field Manager safely.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any issues.
- Respond promptly to urgent interpretation requests and maintain confidentiality.
Required profile
- Minimum of 1 year experience in translation or interpretation, preferably in a humanitarian context.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing operational needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding principles and cultural sensitivity.
Required skills
- Fluent in Ukrainian, Russian and English (both written and spoken).
- Proven interpreting and translation abilities.
- Valid driver’s licence and experience with vehicle operation.
