Senior Project Associate (Cash-Based Interventions)

About the role

The Senior Project Associate will support IOM’s Cash‑Based Programme in Ukraine, overseeing unified cash transfers and group cash assistance to vulnerable populations in frontline and selected territories.

Key responsibilities

• Independently lead and coordinate implementation of cash‑based activities, monitoring progress against plans and adjusting modalities as needed.
• Monitor budget expenditures, verify fund availability and maintain accurate records of approved budgets and revisions.
• Coordinate financial, administrative and technical aspects of the project in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
• Plan, organize and deliver capacity‑building workshops for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain effective liaison with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and other partners; prepare correspondence, briefing notes and reports.
• Supervise and provide guidance to reporting staff, ensuring timely submission of narrative and financial reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Political Science or related field with at least five years of relevant experience (or high school diploma with seven years).
• Proven experience liaising with governmental authorities, UN agencies and NGOs, and working with migrants, refugees, IDPs or trafficking victims.
• Experience in cash programming within humanitarian contexts, preferably in emergency or conflict settings.
• Strong project management, monitoring and reporting skills.
• Fluency in English and Ukrainian (oral and written).

Required skills

• Knowledge of cash‑based interventions (CBI) fundamentals and Accountability to Affected Populations tools.
• Familiarity with innovative humanitarian systems and fast learning ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Understanding of Sphere standards and related humanitarian response guidelines.
