Improvised Explosive Device Disposal Instructor

About the role

The Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) Instructor will support the Ukraine Mine Action Programme by building sustainable national capacity to counter explosive threats. Reporting to the UNOPS Project Manager and the Humanitarian Mine Action Technical Advisor, the contractor will design and deliver high‑impact Training‑of‑Trainers (ToT) courses for IEDD and Counter‑IED (C‑IED) to selected partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop NMAS‑compliant training materials, including lesson plans, instructor guides, participant workbooks and assessment tools, in English and ready for Ukrainian translation.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver IEDD ToT and C‑IED ToT courses at partner‑agreed venues.
• Provide technical mentorship to partners, enabling them to independently deliver instructor‑led and equipment training.
• Review and update training content between cohorts based on feedback and operational changes.
• Ensure all training outputs meet UNOPS quality and safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in explosive ordnance disposal, IEDD or C‑IED operations.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver Training‑of‑Trainers programmes.
• Fluency in English; ability to produce materials suitable for translation into Ukrainian.
• Experience working in high‑risk, humanitarian or mine‑action environments is preferred.
