Global Accountant Lead

About the role

The Global Accountant Lead will be a key contributor to Newfire’s financial integrity and global reporting accuracy. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this senior professional will lead an international accounting team and ensure the efficient execution of worldwide accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the global accounting team, fostering high performance and continuous growth.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate journal entries, reconciliations and timely financial reports.
• Oversee consolidation of subsidiaries’ financial results, integrating data across multiple entities and legal structures.
• Handle intercompany accounting, including reconciliation and elimination of balances and transactions.
• Standardize reporting packages for subsidiaries to maintain consistency and compliance.
• Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, vendor management, invoice processing and collections.
• Review balance‑sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Coordinate external audits, preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and management reporting for senior leadership and board.
• Partner with the VP of Finance to develop and improve accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements to shorten the close cycle and strengthen controls.
• Support system implementations, automation initiatives and accounting transformation projects.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in an international, cross‑border environment.
• Proven track record in multi‑entity financial consolidation, intercompany eliminations and global reporting.
• Extensive experience managing month‑end close, AP/AR oversight and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
